Yelitza Irizarry was born in Puerto Rico and moved permanently to Port St. Lucie with her husband in 2016. She has been an attorney in Puerto Rico for more than 10 years.
Yelitza graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico with a BA in Finance. She later graduated from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Law in 2003. During law school, Yelitza conducted an update to the Notary Public Book “Curso de Derecho Notarial Puertorriqueño” and Civil Procedure Textbook “Reglas de Procedimiento Civil Puertorriqueño: Preguntas y Respuestas” for Professor and attorney Candida Urrutia de Basora. Yelitza also participated in the revision of the 1974 Penal Code of Puerto Rico, “Crimes Against Public Affairs” 33 L.P.R.A. 4351-4366 under the supervision of the professor and attorney Dora Nevares.
Yelitza began her legal career as a solo practitioner in 2006 and focused on civil and criminal litigation, and Family Law. After 8 years of have her own law firm, Yelitza accepted a position as a legal adviser for the President of the Senate, Hon. Eduardo B. Gautier, for the term of 2013-2016, in the Senate of Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Yelitza worked as in-house attorney responsible of litigation cases against the Senate of Puerto Rico and his President, and was responsible for promoting major legislative initiatives.
In 2017, Yelitza joined Apfelbaum Law as a Law Clerk. Yelitza plans on taking the Florida Bar examination to be admitted as Florida Bar licensed attorney — Yelitza Irizarry is currently not licensed to practice law in Florida.
